NIU Police Chief Donald Grady has been relieved of his duties.
The decision to dismiss Grady, who has been on leave since Nov. 10, was made following an administrative evaluation, according to a news release from NIU.
Bill Nicklas has been the acting director of public safety, and Darren Mitchell has been the acting chief of police since Grady's leave. Nicklas said there was no schedule for finding a new police chief.
"Right now there is no timeline for either a search or final decisions on the acting positions in the department," Nicklas said.
Grady referred requests to comment to his attorney, Michael Fox.
