DeKALB – Clutch hitting by junior infielder Eric Erato in Friday’s come from behind walk-off victory over Western Michigan University earned him his first Huskie of the Week honor.

Erato’s selection is baseball’s third straight Huskie of the Week award. He joins junior outfielder and catcher Colin Summerhill and junior infielder Aaron Harper as baseball’s Huskie of the Week winners.

Erato saved Friday’s game for the Huskies, knocking a two-out, two-strike single to keep the game alive in the ninth inning, which became the game-tying run.

He also hit a game-tying two-RBI single in the 11th inning. The Huskies eventually walked-off on a bases-loaded hit by pitch by Summerhill.

Erato’s batting average is now hitting .277 on the season to go along with his nine RBI’s. He also has worked 26 walks, scored 27 runs and has an on base percentage of .412.

Erato also recorded two hits in Saturday’s 7-1 loss to Western Michigan.

Next week’s Huskie of the Week will be announced on April 24.

The Northern Star Huskie of the Week is voted for on a weekly basis. Student-athletes considered for this week’s edition were chosen based on their weekly performance in competitions taking place from April 10 to April 16.
