Football squad looks to cap fall schedule

The Northern Illinois softball squad will try to keep up its winning ways this weekend when it travels to the University of Iowa for another exhibition tournament.

The Huskies have gone 5-1 so far this fall in exhibition play, including capturing their own tournament crown over Western Illinios University last Sunday.

The Huskies will once again square off against WIU, as well as the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, and the host Hawkeyes in a one-day tournament on Sunday.

NIU will hope to have an easier time this weekend than last.

After losing to Northeastern Illinois University 2-1, the Huskies bounced back to beat WIU 2-1, struggled to beat Ball State University 6-5 in 10 innings, and once again beat WIU 2-1 to gain the tournament title.

This weekend’s games will conclude the exhibition schedule for the fall. The team will resume regular season play next spring and continue its quest for a fourth North Star Conference crown in the last five years. Both NIU and DePaul University are considered the favorites.
