UPs search for woman’s harasser

University Police are looking for an unidentified man who trailed an NIU student around campus Friday, touched her and made a sexual remark to her.

The woman noticed the man following her several different times that day, said University Police Lt. Kathy Guimond. She saw him near Graham Hall, the Psychology/Mathematics building and the Visual Arts building, Guimond said.

As the woman was walking on campus, the man grabbed her by the arm and made a sexual remark to her, she said.

The man is described as a slender white male, about six feet tall with mid-neck length brown hair. He wore a mauve, tropical-patterned shirt, mint-green shorts and tennis shoes, Guimond said.

“Maybe if someone picks up on his description, or the description of his clothes, maybe they will call us. Maybe he has followed someone else,” Guimond.

The UPs are investigating the incident, she said. If the man is found, he might face battery or disorderly conduct charges, Guimond said.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact the UPs at 753-1212, Guimond said.
