Star announces fall management

By Tricia Roegner

The Northern Star has a new management team for the fall semester.

With the present editor-in-chief Beth Behland graduating in August, Mark McGowan will become editor-in-chief when the fall semester begins. McGowan was campus editor this year.

“Mark McGowan is a talented writer and manager, so I have every bit of confidence in his ability to run a tight ship,” Behland said.

Behland said because the team is almost completely new, everyone will have their work cut out for them. “But they are a good bunch of people and I have no doubt they will put out an excellent campus newspaper,” she said.

McGowan is enthusiastic to begin the job. “I think the fall will be a good time for the paper,” McGowan said. “Our staff will mostly be young and fresh, but enthusiastic.”

The other management positions are as follows:

Darrell Hassler – managing editor

Bill Bracken – advertising manager

Marc Alberts – editorial editor

Michael McCulloh – campus editor

Sabryna Cornish – city editor

Lisa Ferro – assistant campus editor

Amy Julian – features editor

Steve Dennis – sports editor

Wes Swietek – assistant sports editor

Sheri Cocciemiglio – copy desk editor

Tim Morrissey – photo editor

Carolyn Kezis – classified manager

Donna Sullivan – billing manager

Rosa Tiquez – ad production manager

Scott Wolfe – circulation manager

Kelly Ludeman – payroll manager

Mike Hughes – public relations director

The editor-in-chief is chosen by the Star’s management board. The board consists of nine student managers at the newspaper. McGowan was selected after an open interview process. He ran unopposed.

All other managers are chosen by the newly-elected editor-in-chief. Some management positions have yet to be announced.
