The contest opens for submissions Oct. 23 and closes Oct. 29 at 5 p.m.
The public will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite costume out of the submissions, and a winner will be announced on Halloween, Oct. 31.
The winning candidate will receive a $50 Visa gift card and extensive ghoulish bragging rights.
Happy Halloween!
HOW TO COMPETE:
Email a photo of you in your Halloween costume, your first and last name, your student ID, a preferred form of contact, and a brief description of what inspired your costume to Northern_Star_editor@niu.edu
All applicants will be contacted after submission to confirm their identity.
The winner will be contacted again on Oct. 30 for a brief interview about their costume.
RULES AND CONSIDERATIONS:
Get as gorey, strange or creepy as you like, but please keep your costumes reasonably appropriate for the public. The Northern Star reserves the right to decide not to consider a submission deemed obscene or otherwise not up to the Northern Star’s standards.
Group costumes are allowed, but will only receive one award – not an award per group member – if a group submission wins.
