A recent wave of conference realignments finds NIU consolidating its men’s and women’s programs into one league: the Mid-Continent Conference,

NIU is following in the footsteps of Western and Eastern Illinois’ switching of their women’s programs to the Mid-Continent Conference.

But the picture only becomes muddier after the recent announcement that Northern Iowa is leaving the M-C to join the Missouri Valley Conference. As a result, M-C Commissioner Jerry Ippoliti has been sending out feelers to several Midwestern schools which might be interested in signing with the M-C.

These days you not only need a scorecard to determine the players, you need one to tell what conference your team is in.
