Huskie redshirt junior pitcher Adam Brouwer has been named the Northern Star’s Huskie of the Week for the second time in his career after his 13 strikeouts on Friday paved the way for NIU’s series sweep over Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
He was also awarded Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Week, the first time an NIU pitcher has earned the honor since 2019.
Brouwer recorded 13 strikeouts in six innings of work, a career-high for the right-hander.
Brouwer holds the lowest ERA in the MAC with a 0.00 on the season, allowing no earned runs over 17 innings. He also leads the MAC in strikeouts, posting 23.
This is Brouwer’s second time being named Huskie of the Week, after earning the honor in 2024.
The Huskies begin their first series of conference play at 2 p.m. Friday in Kent, Ohio, when they take on the Kent State University Golden Flashes. Live stats will be updated on SideArm Stats.
