As the end of the semester is nearing, students may be starting to think of their plans for summer break. Summer break is a time of rest and relaxation, and students should enjoy the time away from school.
NIU students provided their thoughts on what their plans are for summer.
Liza DeWhite, a senior sociology major, will be moving to Philadelphia.
Q: “What are your plans for summer break?”
A: “So my plans are to go to the beach and to prepare to move to Philly to go to the University of Pennsylvania for grad school.”
Q: “What are you studying?”
A: “I will be attending Penn for my master’s in public health with the emphasis in global health.”
Kayla Martin, a junior early childhood education major, will be taking summer classes at NIU.
Q: “What are your plans for summer break?”
A: “My plans for summer break include working and then taking some classes at NIU.”
Q: “What kind of classes are you going to take?”
A: “I’m taking LTIC 445, which is a step on getting my ESL (English as a second language) endorsement for my early childhood education major.”
Micah Guillermo, a sophomore meteorology major, plans to travel during summer.
Q: “What are your plans for summer break?”
A: “I have a lot of travel plans in just a few weeks actually. I’m gonna be heading to Atlanta for a little get together with some friends, and, got a lot of travel plans, afterwards it’ll be Pittsburgh in July. And I got a few other places in mind, but I just need to make sure everything’s planned before I say anything.
Q: “Have you been to any of those places before?”
A: “I have, Pittsburgh. I’ve been there a few times. I wanna say it’s been two to three times, and Atlanta, my first time was last year and it was a really nice time to be out there. It was nice outside. The hotel had a bunch of pool parties and whatnot, so just the usual summer activities and whatnot. So yeah, all around it’s going to be a good time. Just, hopefully no one does anything stupid because it’s summer, but I think people would know better than that.”
