OCR to hold sleigh rides

If you’re looking for one way to cure those winter blues, the Office of Campus Recreation is sponsoring sleigh rides Friday night.

The 45-minute sleigh rides will travel around a 35-acre farm located in the southern part of DeKalb. Students can meet at the Outing Center at 6:30 p.m. to travel together to the farm. The cost for each student is $15.

Being offered for the first time this semester, the response so far has been rather low, said Outing Center manager Steve Turner.

“I attribute it to the sub-zero temperatures that we have had in the past week, but it should turn out to be a fun and relaxing night for everyone,” Turner said.

Each sleigh can hold from 16 to 18 people. The sleigh is pulled by two Belgium horses that are accustomed to pulling sleighs for these types of activities.

According to the farm owners, the route is especially pretty at this time of the year. Afterward, the Outing Center will have a campfire for everyone.

For everyone who can’t make it this week, the center will also sponsor sleigh rides on Feb. 2 and Feb. 8.
