CAB sponsors holiday ski trip

Along with Christmas spirit, snow brings opportunity to play outside in the white fluff stuff that comes around for only a season.

And one way to enjoy the snow is to slap on some skis and hit the slopes.

Thanks to NIU’s Campus Activities Board, a ski trip is offered at a reasonable price and includes opportunities other than skiing to have fun over the holiday break.

The $355 trip to Steamboat, Colo., is Jan. 4 through Jan. 12. The price covers bus transportation, lodging and a four-day lift pass, said CAB Office Manager Diane Gautcher.

Students can challenge their skiing abilities and participate in two collegiate ski races, Gautcher said.

For a few extra dollars, students can cruise to Vale for a day of skiing.

In addition to skiing the days and nights away, students can join in on the fun of a party and a barbecue.

The Silver Bullet gondola will zoom students to the top of Thunderhead Mountain for a huge all-collegiate bash, she said.

A barbecue picnic also will be held atop a mountain.

Other activities at extra costs are possible “to explore the wild west,” Gautcher noted.

Students can check out natural hot water springs, sleigh rides and hot air balloon excursions, she suggested.

Whatever form the fun takes, it’s a great way to slide into the new year.
