The Northern Illinois Association for the Education of Young Children will hold a conference Nov. 3 at Kishwaukee Community Campus.
Richard Wilson, a naturalist form the Chicago Junior School, Elgin, will present the opening address and Kathy Stephens, president of the Midwest Association for the Education of Young Children, will present the key note address.
There will be a teachers’ fair and workshop sessions including Super Hero Play, Informal Math and Special Needs.
The pre-registration deadline is Saturday but tickets can be purchased at the door.

The American Marketing Association will hold its annual NIU/DeKalb Community Unity Picnic in Huber Park Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
Local businesses have donated food and drinks as well as game prizes. Games include an egg toss and children’s games.
All students and local residents are invited to attend.
Safe Harbor meeting
Safe Harbor, a support group for adults who were sexually abused as children, will be having its next meeting Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Fox Valley Christian Church, 1605 W. Wilson, Batavia.
Diana Phillips will lecture about trust and intimacy.

Largest fitness class held
The World’s Largest Fitness Class will be held Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the recreation center. The event is free and open to the public.
Door prizes from Reebok and Timex will be given away and there will be a special appearance by the NIU Silverettes.

Fund-raising event held
The second annual fund-raising event for the DeKalb Education Foundation will be Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the DeKalb High School commons.
Reservations for the event are requested by Oct. 26, but anyone wishing to attend can purchase tickets at the door. Tickets are $12.50 per person.
The foundation operates independently of the school district administration.
