Candidates mingle with members of the public Thursday night during “Candidates Night” at the Egyptian Theatre hosted by the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce.

Meet local and state candidates up for election at Tuesday’s Candidate’s Night in the DeKalb County Farm Bureau Building, 315 N. Sixth St. at 7 p.m.

Sponsored by the DeKalb County Farm Bureau and the League of Women Voters of DeKalb County, the night offers students and residents the opportunity to hear the candidates’ views on various issues.

A forum featuring Sen. Patrick Welch, D-Peru, and Republican Nancy Beasley, who are running for state senate, and Republican J. Bradley Burzynski and Democrat Robert Tisch, running for state representative, will begin at 8 p.m.

STC discussion

The Society for Technical Communication will hold a brown-bag informal discussion with the STC Region 4 Director Lynnette Porter Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Reavis Hall Room 211.

Topics of the discussion will include what other STC student chapters are doing, information about the STC Region 4 Conference in Indiana and information about the International Conference on Technical Communication in New York.

All STC members and students who want to become members are invited to attend and bring their lunches.
