Field hockey team drops two in Ohio

This weekend, the NIU field hockey team found nothing but frustration in Columbus, Ohio.

Friday the Huskies saw a 2-0 lead turn into a 3-2 loss in the final 13 minutes as weekend host Ohio State made a major rally.

On Saturday the University of Toledo erased another 2-0 NIU lead for a 3-2 sudden death, double-overtime triumph.

In Friday’s game, Debbie Beans put the Huskies ahead with just 5:01 gone. It became 2-0 NIU before the Huskies unraveled. Ohio State scored three straight goals for a 3-2 win.

The Huskies scored with just 3:07 gone against Toledo and then added another goal 13 minutes later. Maureen Scanlon won the game for UT with a goal just 2:47 into the second overtime. NIU fell to 4-11-0.
