By Amy Julian

The new adviser for greek affairs at NIU is looking forward to the challenge of her first professional position.

Dawn Sturma said she officially started at NIU Aug. 16. after former adviser Mary Ronan left NIU for a job in Omaha, Nebraska.

Sturma said she received her Master of Arts of Student Personnel Administration in Higher Education from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She said her work advising the Ball State Panhellenic Council last year prepared her for her position at NIU.

“I’m still getting acclimated here,” she said. “I’m encouraged by the support I’ve received from the (University Programming and Activities) office, especially since I came here during the busy Rush season.”

Originally from Wisconson, Sturma said she has lived in the Midwest her entire life and she enjoys this part of the country.

Sturma said one of her goals for the year is to have an all-Greek philanthropic event with all chapters working together.
