Expo ‘90 previews NIU organizations

Campus organizations will have the opportunity to show newcomers what they have to offer at the upcoming Organizational Expo ’90.

The annual gathering of campus-wide organizations will be held in the Holmes Student Center Duke Ellington Ballroom from noon until 4 p.m. Sept. 12.

Representatives from as many as 100 campus groups will be on hand to answer questions and provide information.

Z. Ahmad, University Programming and Activities program coordinator, said he expects as many as 400 students to attend.

“It is a neat way to shop around for organizations that suit your interests.”

Music will be provided by WKDI radio, and throughout the day organizations will have a chance to give short presentations.

Food, fun, and festivity will be the focus of the event, Ahmad said. Among the highlights already planned are pinata making and a dance try-out competition.

Coupons and food will be sponsored by the Huskie Den, student center food service and the student center bookstore.

A best booth award will be given for the most creative display, so organizations are encouraged to be imaginative.

Groups interested in reserving a space should contact programming and activities at 753-1421 before Sept. 7.
