Voter signup in DuSable Hall

Students can register for the March 20 Illinois primary elections today from 9 a.m. to noon in DuSable Hall.

One member of the NIU Black Student Union and two people from the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners will register students.

Registration will take students about five minutes and will include filling out their addresses and providing identification, said Otis Moore, BSU vice president and minister of external affairs.

Registration will be in the DuSable Hall north lobby, near Circle Drive. Moore said the BSU chose to register voters in DuSable because it has a “high level of traffic.”

“People live on campus or in dorms are official residents of DeKalb. They have the right to vote,” Moore said.

Candidates from the Republican and Democratic parties will face off against members of their own party in the primaries to see who will make the ballot in the Nov. 6 general election.

“They run candidates in the same party against one another who best qualify as a candidate in the general election,” Moore said.
