NIU sororities will start the new semester with an armful of awards received from chapters’ national and international offices.

Alpha Delta Pi gained national recognition for receiving an excellent chapter performance evaluation. Requirements included acceptance of the Diamond Four-Point Award for the current and previous years. This is the first of a five-step progression to the Golden Lion award, the highest award given to an Alpha Delta Pi chapter.

Other honors awarded to the chapter include national recognition for Superiority in Service to philanthropic efforts, as reported by their panhellenic delegate. The A-1 Treasure award, the History and Communications Awards were three honors given to Alpha Delta Pi for their prompt and efficient work with forms and information requested or required by the Grand Council.

Another NIU sorority, Delta Gamma, also received the Excellence of Scholarship Award for recognition within their province for high scholastic achievement. Recognition also was given to the sorority for outstanding programming efforts in the province.

NIU’s Delta Phi Epsilon chapter received international recognition and was ranked second among all Delta Phi Epsilon chapters. They also received recognition as the most active chapter on their respective campus, while maintaining the most outstanding pledge program among all Delta Phi Epsilon chapters.

Delta Phi Epsilon member Patricia Brockman was internationally acknowledged as the most distinguished member for a two-year period at the national convention in Chicago. The chapter also displayed their award-winning scrapbook at this convention.

The Delta Zeta chapter of NIU was nationally recognized for donating $2,000 to Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., Delta Zeta’s national philanthropic beneficiary. The chapter was also awarded for having the most outstanding social programs throughout the year.

National and provincial recognition was given to NIU’s Sigma Sigma Sigma as the chapter with the most efficient educational program, including lecture series and pledge programming. The Sigmas also were acknowledged as the most overall efficient chapter in their region.
