SA to hold open house for many organizations

Student Association members have invited various organizations to an open house today as part of an SA Awareness Campaign.

The purpose of the open house is to convey to organizational leaders that the SA is here for them, said SA Senate Speaker John Fallon. The event will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the SA office, on the Holmes Student Center’s second floor.

“Students can come into the Student Association and learn about different committees,” so they can get involved, said SA President Huda Scheidelman.

Organization members can learn how to become a recognized student group and the privileges of being SA recognized, including use of Holmes Student Center rooms, University Programming and Activities poster stamp approval and eligibility for SA funding.

Fallon said he has been working on the campaign by visiting organizations and encouraging members to get involved with the SA. “Senators have been very supportive in the whole awareness campaign,” he said.

Invitations were sent to specific organization leaders, but the event is open to anyone interested, Fallon said. “The Student Association is always open to all students,” he said.

There are many committee positions available, including minority relations, academic affairs, recreation, research, community affairs, campus welfare and public relations. Anyone interested in joining these committees should contact SA members.
