Lester Grahm, assistant news director at WNIU 89.5, has been named news director. Grahm has been news director at three stations in Illinois. He has contributed to the United Press International wire service and the former Tribune Radio Network.

$500 scholarships offered

The Illinois Sheriff’s Association will award 125 scholarships of a maximum of $500 each to students pursuing higher education. Applicants must be Illinois residents and plan to attend an Illinois school as full-time undergraduates.

Applications are available through local sheriffs’ departments. The application deadline is March 1.

Legislative interns needed

The Illinois Legislative Studies Center seeks applicants for 16 positions on their Staff Internship Program. Interns will serve from Oct. 1 to Aug. 15 with various partisan staffs and will receive a $1,450 stipend.

Art award of merit

Mary Lou-Read Dryer, an NIU publications designer, received an award of merit for her design work on an NIU School of Art bulletin. The award was presented by the Mead Corporation in the paper manufacturer’s bi-monthly competition for excellence in the graphic arts.
