NIU Provost Kendall Baker will update the Faculty Assembly on the equity of faculty salaries at the Assembly’s meeting today.

The meeting will begin at 3 p.m. in Holmes Student Center room 505. Baker is scheduled to speak at 4:30 p.m.

University Council Executive Secretary Judy Bischoff said faculty will vote on the creation of a faculty senate. The current proposal includes a 75-member senate with faculty to be elected by their departments to serve on the senate.

The assembly’s decision will be presented to the University Council at their March 8 meeting. The proposed amendment to authorize a faculty senate would require a two-thirds vote by the UC, Bischoff said.

Regency Professor William Monat also will propose an amendment giving the NIU Athletic Association a representative on the NIU Athletic Board.
