Division discusses relocation

The NIU Parking Committee will hold a special meeting today at 1:30 p.m. in the Holmes Student Center, room 406, to complete discussion on items from an Oct. 6 meeting agenda.

Among the items to be discussed will be the question of whether the NIU Parking Division needs a new location. Parking Committee Chairman Bob Bornhuetter and Parking Divison Director Lynn Fraser said the present division office is “very cramped for space.”

Bornhuetter also said the division is in a bad location because too many pedestrians are in the same area. “It’s just a matter of time before someone gets hit,” he said.

In other business, Bornhuetter said he will propose a discussion on the recent issue of complaints from the City of Sycamore toward NIU engineering students who are parking on the city’s streets instead of using the NIU designated lot.

Bornhuetter said he was unaware of the parking problem in Sycamore. He said he has received one complaint from an engineering graduate student who stated the school’s lot is in poor condition for parking.
