The driver in an automobile accident in which a passenger was killed Monday was in stable condition Tuesday at Kishwaukee Community Hospital.

A northbound car on Annie Glidden Road, driven by Robert Rizzuto, 17, of 147395 Mission Ave., Oak Forest., was struck by another car as Rizzuto attempted to make a left turn onto Lincoln Highway in front of on-coming traffic Monday afternoon at 3:23 p.m.

The second car, driven by NIU student Richard Bragg, 18, of 1106 S. Second St., DeKalb, broadsided Rizzuto’s car on the passenger side, causing both vehicles to spin.

Rizzuto was taken to Kishwaukee Community Hospital for treatment. Bragg was not injured.

Killed in the accident was Rizzuto’s passenger, NIU student Kristine Conn, 18, of 15606 Lorel Ave., Oak Forest. Conn resided at 295 Douglas Hall.

Conn was a sophomore with an undecided major.

The DeKalb County Coroner’s office reported Conn was pronounced dead at 4:56 p.m. at Kishwaukee Community Hospital. Conn was a passenger in a north bound auto making a left turn onto State Route. 38 from Annie Glidden Road. Their vehicle was struck by a south bound vehicle in the intersection.

Two tickets were issued to Rizzuto for making an improper left-hand turn and failure to wear a seat belt.

The accident was investigated by Dennis Miller of the coroner’s office and the DeKalb Police Department. An inquest is pending.
