How many of you out there have found yourselves in a similar situation? As you’re walking down one of the sidewalks at NIU, you suddenly hear the hum of a motor directly behind you, and when you turn around, there is an NIU van or pick-up truck behind you. Are these sidewalks for pedestrian use or general traffic? In my opinion, NIU vehicles should not be regarded any preferential treatment, and should be confined to DeKalb streets. I’m tired of yielding to trucks on these sidewalks, and I’m tired of falling into potholes. Is there any question of why the sidewalks at NIU are in such a state of disrepair? John LaTourette, please look into changing this university policy and do a great service to the students in the process.
