Deadline nears for residents

The voter registration deadline is March 9 for Dekalb County residents who want to vote in the April 7 aldermanic elections.

In order to register, a resident must be 18 years of age, a citizen of the United States and have resided in their precinct for 30 days, according to Terry Desmond, Dekalb County clerk.

Desmond said NIU students who reside in DeKalb during the nine months of the school year might want to consider registering here, since most elections are held during the academic semester.

e reminds county residents that they may register at most area banks, city offices, village and township clerks’ offices, DeKalb Public Library, 309 Oak St., and at the County Clerk’s office, 110 E. Sycamore Street. Residents may also register at the NIU Student Association office.

All offices will be accepting registration through March 9. Citizens with questions about voter registration may call the County Clerk’s office at 895-9161.
