Jackson’s hype man, Kaepernick’s workout and Draymond at PG: What’s trending on Monday in Sports?

By James Krause

After a weekend of sports, the sports section is typically ablaze with news, GIFs of the wildest plays and hot takes on the action of the weekend.

Every Monday, the Northern Star will try and compile the best news, clips and thoughts from the weekend. Here’s what’s trending on Monday in sports.

Colin Kaepernick’s workout is moved, but most opinions aren’t

Anything surrounding quarterback Colin Kaepernick has come to be marred in controversy, and his scheduled workout on Saturday is no different. Kaepernick skipped on the NFL ran workout in Atlanta to host his own workout open to the media and public.

Many protesters and supporters of Kaepernick, stemming from his protest of the national anthem, have sounded off in the hours and days after.

I asked him whether he considered that the act of protest – which he is doing – is the reason Kaepernick has been out of the league, and he said yes, he doesn’t disagree with the protest, just the method. pic.twitter.com/wJYtc2UL5n
— Jourdan Rodrigue (@JourdanRodrigue) November 16, 2019
” id=”https://twitter.com/JourdanRodrigue/status/1195757957360836608″ type=”twitter”}}

Lamar Jackson has a field day and a hype man

The Baltimore Ravens hosting of the Houston Texans was the most highly anticipated game of the weekend, but quarterback Lamar Jackson made quick work of the Texans defense. Jackson threw four touchdowns in the Ravens 41-7 win Sunday, including two touchdown passes to his running back Mark Ingram.

With the love his quarterback showed him on the field with touches, Ingram gave it right back tenfold in the post game press conference.

Mitch Trubisky benched before end on Bears’ loss

The Chicago Bears 17-7 loss to the Los Angeles Rams was an afterthought for Bears fans after quarterback Mitch Trubisky was pulled late in the fourth quarter for backup Chase Daniel.

Trubisky threw for 190 yards and a touchdown before Head Coach Matt Nagy pulled him due to a hip injury. That diagnosis raised many suspicions among fans and reporters.

Warriors last hope at point: Draymond Green

With injuries to their star guards, Klay Thompson, Stephen Curry and now D’Angelo Russell, the Golden State Warriors are starting to ask where they can find their next point guard.

Their answer for their Sunday game against the New Orleans Pelicans was in Draymond Green. Green finished with seven points, four assists and six rebounds in the Warriors loss.
