Hear the story of an ecosystem at DeKalb County History Center

Experience a journey through the four seasons in “Prarie Fire: Exploring the Natural History of the Heartland through Stories and Songs,” a performance by author and historian Brian Ellis. The presentation will be held 7 p.m. Thursday at the DeKalb County History Center, 1730 N Main St, Sycamore.

The event is included with admission, which is $5 for adults and free for members or children.

The performance follows the story of Rusty, a molecule of ferrous oxide, through the history of an oak savanna, which are found in the Midwest. Ellis explores the legends of human settlers in the savanna, the natural history of the prairie and the diverse ecology of the habitat.

Ellis is an acclaimed storyteller with conference experience and 16 books under his belt.
