Highest Grossing Films of the Weekend: February 8-10

The winter months usually result in fewer numbers as opposed to the blockbuster filled summer, but these films have led the past weekend in domestic box office gross.

1. “The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part”- $34,115,335 

Then long awaited sequel to “The Lego Movie” has been critically acclaimed with a Rotten Tomatoes Score of 91%. However, the film has not grossed what most would have expected compared to the first film’s opening weekend gross of $64,050,279.” While it’s unlikely the film will bomb, considering it’s budget was 99 million dollars, audiences aren’t as excited about the adventures of Legos as they used to be.

2. “What Men Want”- $18,232,087

Academy Award nominated actress Taraji P. Henson returns to the big screen in a comedy where she can hear the inner thoughts of men. Reception to the film has been mixed with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 45% with some enjoying the comedic talent of its lead while others feel the film is predictable.

3. “Cold Pursuit”- $11,030,233

Liam Neeson stars in this high stakes action thriller as a vigilante who declares war on the cartel to avenge his son. With a Rotten Tomatoes score of 74%, the combination of dark comedy and amazing action sequences is a stellar duo.
