After an up-and-down three months, the wrestling team moved up four spots to no. 4 in the Mid-American Conference rankings.

The first of two monthly rankings were posted during the weekend that saw the Huskies move up two spots from January’s results to their best result in the last two years. NIU ranked no. 4 in December of the 2016-2017 season.

The Huskies received nine points beating out the University of Buffalo and Central Michigan University by one point.

University of Missouri ranks first followed by Old Dominion University, and Ohio University while Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville and Kent State University rounded out the last two positions.

The results include the top four MAC grapplers in each weight-class which includes five Huskie grapplers.

Redshirt senior Alijah Jeffery stays in fourth in the 133 weight-class.

In the 165 weight-class, redshirt sophomore Kenny Moore comes in second, the third straight time the Huskie has landed there.

Redshirt first-year Brit Wilson stays in second place in the 174 weight-class behind Missouri’s All-American Daniel Lewis. Wilson has followed Lewis since the first rankings released in November, this season.

In his first ever appearance, redshirt first-year Will Feldkamp wrapped up the 184 weight-class in fourth place.

 Big man redshirt junior Caleb Gossett finished fourth in the heavyweight class. His second appearance this season.

 NIU holds a 6-9 record including 1-4 in conference play. The Huskies have two more MAC matchups facing Kent State before closing out the season against Buffalo.

 One last February rankings will be posted before the end of the month and the Huskies are in position to move on up in team and individual rankings.
