Republican senator Dave Syverson ran unopposed in the 2018 midterm elections, clinching his third straight win in the 35th district.

Syverson served as an Illinois state senator in the 34th district from 1993-2013. He is a proponent of limiting big government and government spending, while reforming welfare and raising education spending. He is also a proponent of expanded gaming in Illinois, sponsoring a bill allowing for more casinos.

“As Senate Republicans, our goal is to encourage job growth by developing an efficient, transparent, ethical state government with less regulation and lower taxes,” Syverson said according to his website. “We must leave a legacy of responsible government that will last for generations.”
