‘A Star Is Born’: Revitalized Classic Captures Hollywood’s Attention

We’re all familiar with singer/songwriter Lady Gaga and the prominent voice she has had in Hollywood. Her music has been on the charts since 2008, and in 2015, she co-starred in “American Horror Story: Hotel,” revealing her talents as an actress. Now, she has been chosen by Director Bradley Cooper to play the leading role in “A Star Is Born” (2018), which has everyone buzzing with excitement about the film’s potential after its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The concept for “A Star Is Born” began with the original 1937 film, starring Janet Gaynor and Fredric March, and has been rebooted three times since then. The newest adaptation of this picture will be released Oct. 5, 2018, and it has captured everyone’s attention. Rotten Tomatoes, a movie rating site that is well-known for its harsh critique on films, has rated “A Star Is Born” at a 95 percent. IMDb users rated it an 8.6 out of 10, and Vanity Fair claims, “‘A Star Is Born’ is already the Oscar movie to beat.”
The film features Cooper and Gaga as musical artists. Cooper’s character, Jack, is already in the spotlight as a musician, and Gaga plays Ally, who is a singer/songwriter struggling to make her debut in a cutthroat career. The story follows the couple’s struggle with their own personal problems that arise while following your dreams in the music industry. It works as a powerful message, however, to those who have had a similar experience; it’s no wonder Hollywood has taken a particular interest in it.
It’s clear Cooper’s vibrant and inspirational film has made an impression and, although the movie’s plot is repetitive, it speaks volumes to everyone who’s had to overcome obstacles to achieve their goals. “A Star is Born” will be released in theaters nationwide on Friday, Oct. 5.
