DeKALB — Second City, legendary improv comedy theater, will perform 7:30 p.m. Saturday, at the Egyptian Theatre, 135 N. Second St.

The group is home to famous comedians, such as Tina Fey, Steve Carell and Amy Poehler.

The theater group also has training centers, which help aspiring comedians and actors develop their improvisation and comedic skills; tickets to the show are $25.

“I am looking forward to the show because they have come before, and they have [had] funny improvisations in the past,” Jeanine Holcomb, marketing and communications director at the theater, said. “The show has had good tickets sales, and there is a good buzz around Second City coming to DeKalb.”

This year, Second City’s show is titled “Look Both Ways Before Talking” and will focus on comedic views of current societal issues that people refuse to talk about.

“There will be a new cast coming to DeKalb, and I am excited to be coming back as we have a long history of performing here,” Joe Ruffner, producer of the Second City Touring Company said. “Coming to DeKalb allows viewers to watch Chicago comedy without having to drive.”

Rachel Jaco, a sophomore pursuing a BFA in acting, would like to see Second City perform one day because of the incredible reputation they uphold.

“Theater has been a huge part of my life,” Jaco said. “This is important to me because I think that it is imperative to human development to have an appreciation and understanding of all art forms.”
