Dress like a Gladiator, Work like a Warrior

By Rachel Sanchez

Most college students don’t have to negotiate deals with congressmen or be the president’s first responder like fierce Olivia Pope of ABC’s hit series “Scandal.” With our weekly demanding workload, our style is usually our last priority. The show will end after its seventh season but Pope’s style will not. We want to let others know we have our life on track and what better way to do that other than by revamping our closet. Pope would suggest putting on your white hat and getting to work with these easy and affordable ways to be a gladiator in a suit.

Jacket

Being a warrior means you have to find the right armour. In this scene, Pope is wearing an Armani Roll-Neck Boucle Coat, which costs roughly $698. Don’t spend your money on Armani; find the jacket on EZR for $35. Flash your confidence with a coat that puts last year’s trends to shame.

Blouse

Pope’s style is perfect science, pairing a sleeveless, chiffon blouse with white, grey or black slacks. The material is loose and breathable, which is perfect for interviews and other events that require a business-professional look. It’s a simple, yet quick way to look like a ten.

Pant

Finding the perfect pair of pants can be tricky, but there’s no need to fear. Pope rocks these darker grey pants, they compliment her white chiffon blouse perfectly. Check out Kohl’s APT brand for a quality pair of work pants for the perfect price.

Heels

Reach new heights with heels to dress up your style; Pope’s choice of modest pumps prove less is more when wanting to make a statement. Look for a cream or white pair of pumps to heighten the effect of your Pope-inspired outfit.

Purse

The last piece to find is a timeless handbag that can match any outfit. Try finding a large leather bag without all the extra straps. Olivia’s modest bag makes her outfits look expensive and finish the completed look.
