How to Celebrate National Peanut Day

By Tatianna Salisbury

I know, I know, you probably didn’t even know it was National Peanut Day. Well, here it is, good ole’ Wednesday, September 13. Here is a few delicious ways to celebrate!

Try a grilled peanut butter sandwich

Finally, an excuse to try Elvis’s favorite sandwich! It’s no secret the King of Rock n’ Roll loved a unconventional toasted twist on the popular sandwich, but there’s been a lot of variations on the creation over the years. Some enjoy grilled peanut butter and banana, peanut butter and honey or even apples. Mix sweet and savory with peanut butter, bacon and cheddar cheese.

Enjoy a new milkshake

Steak n Shake is famous for their speciality shakes, and it so happens they have a few that are perfect for our nutty occasion. Peanut butter cup, chocolate peanut butter or original are frothy desserts with fluffy whipped cream and great flavor.

If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, try making your own milkshake. With your blender at your fingertips, the combinations are endless. Peanut butter Oreo, peanut butter potato chip, you get the idea.

#PeanutFest

Yes, there is a National Peanut Festival. Held in Dothan, Alabama from November 3-12, the festival has their own Miss National Peanut Festival pageant, recipe contests and greased pig wrestling. General admission tickets are only $7 and each night features live music and festive attractions. Chances are, none of you will actually attend the festival, but isn’t it cool just knowing it exists?
