Fashionable sticky note calendar

By Victoria Lunacek

Staying fashionably organized is the goal of many college students as they juggle class schedules, work, internships and homework. Old fashioned calendars have long been the common way to keep track of those important dates, but they are about to become a thing of the past as dry erase calendars provide a fun, creative way to stay on top of everyday tasks.

Materials

11-by-14 inch picture frame (or larger)

Scrapbook paper

Paint swatches or card stock

Pencil

Ruler

Glue gun

Scissors

Thin-tip dry erase marker

Instructions

1. Pick a scrapbook paper for the background of the calendar. It may require two pieces depending on the frame size.

2. Cut the pieces to fit the frame. Use the glue gun to glue the paper to the backing of the picture frame to create a background print on the board.

3. Measure and cut out 28 or more squares. The squares represent the days of each month. 1.25-by-1.25 inches is a common size and will allow seven swatches to fit in a row.

4. It is optional to cut out spots for the days of the week and a spot for the month. If choosing to do so, measure out the days of the week spots .25-by-1.25 inches. The month spot can be cut in any size desired.

5. Once all the pieces are cut and ready, place and organize the swatches on the background. Once they are placed, use the hot glue gun to secure the pieces.

6. When the calendar is done, place the backing on the frame and hang up the calendar.
