DeKALB — The women’s tennis team will try to end its six match losing streak Friday against Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

The Huskies (6-8) fell 4-3 to Florida Atlantic University March 15 in Boca Raton, Florida to extend their losing streak to six consecutive matches.

In the match, the Huskies won a doubles point for the first time in five matches scoring wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.

The Huskies have struggled to get the outcomes they want this season falling to UCONN, University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, University of Illinois at Chicago, Marquette University and Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville this season. NIU remains 5-2 on the season at home but have gone just 1-6 on neutral or away courts.

One of the bright spots has been freshman Raven Neely. Neely has won four consecutive singles matches and two consecutive doubles matches with junior Evelyn Youel.

Neely has been consistent with her play, regardless of playing singles or doubles as she has gone 10-4 in both this season.

The matches against the RedHawks will be Friday at noon at the Riverside Athletic Club in Oxford, Ohio.
