Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day this year with plenty of local options to satisfy all of the St. Patrick’s Day cravings. From classic corned beef and cabbage to show stopping musical performances, this year has much to offer.

The Irish Marching Society, an organization that promotes Irish culture, is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day Parade at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, starting at 5th Ave. and ending at the Prairie St. Brewhouse in Rockford, Illinois. After enjoying the parade attendees can come to the after party at the Brewhouse for traditional corned beef and cabbage, whiskey chocolate cake and Irish musical performances by Danny’s Gone Rogue and The Tooles. The City of Rockford Pipe Band and McNulty Irish Dancers will be performing at various points throughout the night as well and will be accompanied by a series of local musicians.

Admission is $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Tickets can be purchased online at the Irish Marching Society website; anyone 14 years and under are free. http://www.irishmarchingsociety.com

If staying in DeKalb is the preference, check out the 4th Annual St. Patrick’s Day party, held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday March 17 at Timber Creek Inn & Suites. Admission is $5 and includes a raffle ticket and $2 off a drink or food item. If you’re feeling lucky, you can buy a few raffle tickets or bet on a silent auction item.

Checking out the local pub scene is a must and O’Leary’s Ale House, 260 E. Lincoln Highway, invites you to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with corned beef and cabbage, green beer and a special giveaway. The first 1,000 customers will receive a $10 off coupon on their total meal purchase. If you already have plans Friday night, head out on Saturday and enjoy performances by the band, Menagerie.

Students can also go on a bar crawl and head to Fatty’s Pub and Grille, 1312 W. Lincoln Highway. The Fire Department Bagpipers will be performing at 5 p.m., and attendees can enjoy their music with a cold mug of green Miller Light on tap. To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day further, attendees can take home a brand-new shamrock glass mug to keep the party going at home.
