Second City comes to DeKalb

DeKALB | Second City will perform at the Egyptian Theatre to show off the most successful sketches from the past five decades.

The show begins 8 p.m. today at the Egyptian Theatre, 135 N. Second Street. General admission tickets cost $20 and students can get $5 off with their student ID.

Second City, 1616 N. Wells Street, Chicago, is an improv theater program and the home of some of television and film’s most iconic performers. John Belushi, Mike Myers, Tina Fey, Steve Carrell and Bill Murray are just a handful of the theater’s impressive list of alumni.

Along with famous reenactments from the last 55 years, there will also be a significant amount of new material from the current performers. The show is expected to last roughly two hours.

“The last time we did this was in 2011. It makes for a great night,” executive director Alex Nerad said.

Nerad is hoping to fill the bottom level of the theatre, which has a capacity of 1,400 people.

Those interested in attending the event can purchase tickets here, at the door of the show, or at 815-758-1215.
