DeKALB | Vice Presidents Alan Phillips and Eric Weldy announced their departure from NIU, school officials said Tuesday.

Phillips, vice president of administration and finance, said he will be retiring from his position March 1 to spend more time with his family.

“He and his team have put in place policies and procedures for cost controls and budgeting that will serve us very well going forward,” said President Doug Baker about Phillips in the article on NIU Today. “Al will be missed, and we wish him all the best in his well-earned retirement.”

Phillips praised all those he worked with throughout his time at NIU, which began March 2015.

“I believe we have a great team in place,” Phillips said. “They’re moving NIU in the direction it needs to go.”

Weldy, vice president of student affairs and enrollment management, will leave NIU to begin his newly accepted position as vice chancellor for student affairs at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, according to NIU today.

Weldy was not available for an immediate comment.
