Q: What are your organization’s goals?

A: To bring all the women of different nationalities through the bonds of friendship and sisterhood. Alpha Phi Gamma exists to provide service and Asian awareness to the university and the surrounding communities for the betterment of society. It promotes scholarship and academic excellence, personal development and leadership.

Q: Why should people join your organization?

A:  By becoming a sister of Alpha Phi Gamma you can develop friendships that can last for a lifetime. Through the activities and events that you will experience by joining Alpha Phi Gamma you will form bonds that will strengthen as time goes by. This unique opportunity will enable you to meet people who you may not normally meet in your day-to-day life at school. Not only do you develop friendships with members at your university, but you will also have the opportunity to [meet] sisters from other schools and further your bonds of sisterhood.

Q: What makes your organization unique?

A: We take pride in being the first Asian-interest sorority to be established in Illinois. Not only do we embrace our diversity but we strive for the understanding of each other’s cultures. And most importantly we push each other to be a better version of ourselves.

Q: How many members do you have in your organization?

A: At NIU’s campus (Beta Chapter) Alpha Phi Gamma currently has 112 members being alumna, and sisters on campus. Nationwide we have hundreds of sisters at every chapter. 

Q: How can people join your organization?

A: Every semester we have what is called recruitment week where ladies can come to our various events we host around campus and get to know more about our organization.

Q: Describe your organization in five words or less

A: Diverse, sisterhood, everlasting, dedicated, hardworking

Q: What are the requirements to join your organization?

A: Some basic requirements that should be fulfilled in order to become a member of our organizations are: being an NIU student, identifying yourself as female and a minimum GPA of 2.5. We are an Asian interest sorority but not Asian exclusive.
