NIU civil suit moved to January

By Madison Kacer

ROCKFORD | The initial status hearing for the case of former Controller Keith Jackson was pushed from Tuesday to Jan. 24.

Jackson filed the lawsuit in October 2015, alleging NIU administrators placed him on involuntary administrative leave without due process.

Jackson is suing NIU, the Board of Trustees, President Doug Baker and Nancy Suttenfield, former interim chief financial officer, on six counts.

Jackson and the defendants discussed a pre-litigation settlement, meaning the case would be resolved before going through court, but no agreement was reached.

All defendants have filed motions to dismiss Jackson’s six-count complaint. The motions were reviewed and are pending.
