Cross country confident after season opener

After a runner-up finish by the Huskies at the Illini Challenge Sept. 2, the NIU Cross Country team is looking to carry that momentum into their next match at the Country Financial Invitational on Friday night.

“The main takeaway from today is that our performance is a testament to the depths that we have now that the program has never had before,” said head coach Adrian Myers.

The coaching staff understands that the team has dramatically improved over last season, as they set the bar high in their opening tournament.

“Next week we’ll actually go for broke a little bit more,” Myers said.

The Huskies will continue their season at the Country Financial Invitational 6 p.m. Friday in Normal, Il.
