Men’s tennis sophomore Georg Lundkvist took home second team All-MAC honors Tuesday after a season in which he picked up nearly 40 combined wins.

Lundkvist ended the season with a 22-7 record in singles matches and a 17-6 record in duals. The sophomore also finished with a 19-11 record in doubles matches (14-9 dual), playing alongside fellow sophomore Kevin Daun. Lundkvist is now up to 38-14 in singles matches since his 2015 arrival at NIU.

“It is a great honor for Georg,” said NIU head coach Patrick Fisher, according to an NIU Athletics news release. “He has really stepped up his game, and we will continue to expect big things from Georg and our other guys. I am happy for Georg that he received this recognition, I hope that he can build on it in the coming years, and I am excited to see what’s to come as he establishes himself as one of the better players in the league.”

The Huskies finished the season 15-9 but weren’t able to reach postseason play after finishing fifth in the MAC. It was fifth straight year winning at least 15 dual matches.
