Photo Poll: SA Election Voting

By Northern Star staff

See what some NIU students had to say about voting in SA elections.

Vincent Rustile, senior corporate communications major, said he doesn’t know who is running for the SA election.

Will you be voting in the SA election?

“Since I don’t know who is running, probably not… but if I do get informed… then I might vote.”

Do you think it’s important for students to be involved in SA elections?

“I think so. I think it’s a good idea. It’s going to get more people involved… There’s so many people with diverse backgrounds, different opinions, different cultures, that having everyone vote on campus is a pretty challenging thing.”

Dillon Domke, senior political science major said he is also Student Association speaker.

Will you be voting in the SA election?

“Yes, of course.”

Do you think it’s important for students to be involved in SA elections?

“The Student Association controls a sizeable portion of funding and has the ability to enact real change in the NIU community. The ability for students to have a say in that activity gives them power to have their voice heard.”

Alex Mleczko, junior history major, said he will probably not be voting in the SA election.

How familiar are you with the SA election?

“Barely familiar.”

Do you think it’s important for students to be involved in SA elections?

“Given that I don’t know about them and I don’t know about anyone who really does … I don’t know. I don’t think it affects me.”
