Zayn album exudes emotion

After leaving One Direction, Zayn Malik released his first studio album “Mind of Mine,” which has an emotional and tasteful sound.

“Mind of Mine” was released Friday and all eyes are on Malik after he made his exit from the five-part boy band. During that exit, he was rumored to have been cheating on his former fiancee Perrie Edwards. Since then, the two have broken their engagement and parted ways. “Mind of Mine” has been highly anticipated to speak on rumors and piece together missing chunks of Malik’s cryptic exit from One Direction.

“PILLOWTALK” was the first single Malik released from the album back in January with his new girlfriend, model Gigi Hadid, starring in the music video. The single was an instant hit and it makes sense that it was chosen to be the first release off of the album. It’s every bit of Malik from One Direction that fans love — his smooth R&B vocals paired with his bad boy image. It really tells his fans that even through his departure, he isn’t letting the industry change his image.

“BeFoUr” is going to be a big hit. This is a true representation of Malik’s cool style throughout this album. It also uses Malik’s well known high-ranged vocals over and over, so that you can bop your head and vibe with the song.

“Mind of Mine” has a variety of sounds, from club beats to R&B. Malik’s sound seems to be very mellow and he even has some great R&B ballads that show off his falsetto. You can tell Malik is attempting to make his own sound with this album, but I’m not convinced you can identify his artistry.

Overall, it’s a tasteful and young album that is deserving of a listen, some of these hits are hot ones that will be on the radio soon enough.
