The Student Association Senate approved supplemental funding for NIU Forensics and the NIU National Society of Black Engineers at its meeting Sunday.

The SA approved $250 for NIU Forensics to attend a competition in Indiana.

NIU Forensics is a student organization devoted to a wide range of competitive and non-competitive speech activities, according to its website.

“NIU Forensics is one of NIU’s oldest student organizations.” said NIU Forensics Treasurer Christine Wang. “We have been here since 1928.”

The SA went on to increase a previously approved supplement by $250 to the NIU National Society of Black Engineers, which is dedicated to the academic and professional success of African American engineering students and professionals, to attend a conference in Boston.

SA Historian appointed

SA Senator Aaron Lewis was appointed to the position of SA Historian, who is in charge of maintaining articles and records for future use, including digital copies of relevant materials and information.

“I had fun transcribing the early 1900s English and script to modern day English,” Lewis said.
