Students have had mixed reactions to the transition.

Hnin Lin, sophomore mechanical engineering major, has been using ETA Spot for about two weeks. Lin previously used the transportation section of the NIU app to track her bus route.

“It’s better than the old one; it’s more accurate,” Lin said.

Junior psychology major Rashaud Robinson has yet to use ETA Spot, but expressed interest in it. Robinson does not currently use any app to track NIU’s buses.

“I would use the new app if it’ll help me catch the bus,” Robinson said.

Graduate student Karthik Kondagalla said he started using the ETA Spot app Thursday morning. Although the app didn’t seem to be functioning Thursday morning, Kondagalla was able to use its features when catching the bus in the afternoon.

“It’s a bit new, but I do think I like it better [than the previous transportation app],” Kondagalla said.
