Short skid continues for women’s tennis vs. CSU

Women’s tennis (2-3) played Cleveland State University on Saturday, falling below .500 after losing 4-3 for its second straight loss.

The Huskies won three singles matches but it wasn’t enough as Cleveland State controlled the doubles matches. The three singles points came from junior Adey Osabuohien, sophomore Michelle Erasmus and sophomore Evelyn Youel.

The Huskies will follow the loss with a game against University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee this week. Matches are set to start at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Milwaukee.

No. 1 – Adey Osabuohien (NIU) def. Princess Gbadamosi (CSU), 7-5, 6-1.

No. 2 – Mathilde Orange (CSU) def. Cristina Alvarez (NIU), 5-7, 6-1, 7-6.

No. 3 – Michelle Erasmus (NIU) def. Victoria Bensimon (CSU), 5-7, 6-2, 6-2.

No. 4 – Isabella Spindler (CSU) def. Abigail Dekkinga (NIU), 6-1, 6-2.

No. 5 – Aleksandra Golawska (CSU) def. Meghan Montgomerie (NIU), 6-2, 6-2.

No. 6 – Evelyn Youel (NIU) def. Morgan Nix (CSU), 6-1, 6-1.

Doubles

No. 1 – Osabuohien and Alvarez (NIU) def. Spindler and Golawska, 6-3.

No. 2 – Bensimon and Nix (CSU) def. Dekkinga and Youel (NIU), 6-2.

No. 3 – Gbadamosi and Orange (CSU) def. Montgomerie and Erasmus (NIU), 6-3.
