Men’s tennis (5-3) played three games over the weekend, starting with a 4-3 loss to Southern Illinois University on Friday but moving on to finish the weekend 2-1 with wins against Chicago State University on Friday and Saint Louis University on Saturday.

“We’re happy to make it through the weekend,” said head coach Patrick Fisher, according to an NIU Athletics news release. “We’re just trying to hang in there until we can get healthy and start to get into some kind of consistent rhythm with this team. In the meantime, I could not be more proud of how hard our guys are fighting.”

The Huskies have now won three of their last five games and still have a few weeks before conference play begins. They are second place in the MAC behind Binghamton which is 4-2. All five of the team’s wins have come at home. Its next contests will come this week as it faces off in a doubleheader, starting against Illinois State University at noon and against Nebraska-Omaha at 4 p.m. Friday in Rockford.
