Weekend Guide October 8

With midterms underway, spend your study breaks tyring something new this weekend.

Today

What better way to celebrate the end of a tiring and stressful week than with cupcakes and conversation? Stop by the First-and Second-Year Experience office located in Altgeld Hall, Room 100 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. to meet some of the staff and share cupcakes over engaging conversation between student and staff.

Friday

Grab a friend and head over to the pumpkin carving and decorating event at 6 p.m. in the Holmes Student Center cafe. Participants are higly encouraged to bring their own pumpkin to carve in the spirit of Halloween.

Saturday

Take a trip back in time for the 1940s Hangar Swing Dance at 8:30 p.m. at the DeKalb Taylor Municipal Airport, 3232 Pleasant St. Tickets are $12 and are available at the door. All proceeds from the event will go toward the United Service Organizations.

The Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra will bring its classic sound to the Music Building, Boutell Memorial Concert Hall at 7:30 p.m. All seats are general admission and student tickets are $10.

Sunday

Check out rock band Upper Black Eddy as it performs for the first time at 7 p.m. at the House Cafe, 263 E. Lincoln Highway. Tickets are available online at ticketf.ly/1MUtFT3.
